Mr.Declan GibbonsAs a parent of three boys in Belvedere, I have seen first hand the positive impact of the new Science and Technology Building. Since its opening in 2003 the learning and teaching supports have increased ten fold and the resultant increase in the take up of science subjects in the College is a direct result of this phase of development.

Belvedere now has a real centre of excellence in science and IT education and with the support of past families past pupils and current parents, we are not only giving our children the best opportunities to learn but we are providing a legacy for future generations of Belvederians who will benefit from these developments in the College.

Now, within secondary education in Ireland, there exists a culture of fundraising and development. It has become part of the fabric of school life and it is understood that we will participate, when possible, in the structural development of the schools that our children will spend six years in.

What is truly inspiring is the exceptional support the Science and Technology Appeal receives from the huge body of past pupils who have, without fail, shown unstinting support for all the developments in the College over the past years.

The Science and Technology Appeal is still open. It is not funded by fees or external grants. It is funded by your contributions, and fuelled by your commitment and enthusiasm. If you are considering participating with us on this Appeal I urge you to do so without hesitation.

Thank you

Declan Gibbons
