Spanish Debating Team
The Spanish debating team which consist of all rhetoric students ; Seva Major (captain), Beau Carley, David Connellan and Pearse Adams are in the quarter finals of the Spanish debating competition Wednesday next January 23rd in Castleknock College. They are against Dominican College, Griffith Avenue and are opposing the motion “ Los irlandeses son racistas” (Irish people are racist). This is the first year that Belvedere College has been represented in the competition. They scored the highest points of any other team in the first round so we wish them just as much luck in the quarter finals on Wednesday the 23rd of January!

The team consists of ( left to right ) Jordan Roche (Sub), Pearse Adams, Beau Carley, Seva Major (Captain) and David Conellan.The team won their first debate against St Kevin’s Community College, Dunlavin on October 10th 2012 scoring the highest points out of any other school in the competition on the night. They opposed the motion that “Transition Year is a waste of time”.

David Conellan was awarded best speaker on the night. They opposed the motion with energy, passion and enthusiasm and we wish them the best of luck in the next round.
