Belvedere College - Track and Field

Track and Field

Track and Field

Belvedere College S.J. has a strong tradition of track and field. Pupils from 1st to 6th year have the opportunity to train and compete at different levels and at different competitions.

The Track and field season kicks off in April with the West Leinster Medley Relays. Following this is the “Zone” Championships. Belvedere College S.J. compete in the West Leinster Zone Championships. A full programme is run with athletes competing in a range of running, throwing and jumping events. Athletes who finish in the top three (top two for lane events) will qualify for the Leinster Championships.  From here athletes can then qualify for the National All Irelands, which are held in June in Tullamore, Co Offaly. Athletes who did not win a medal or compete at the West Leinsters can race again in the West Leinster Confined Championships. Other competeitions which our athletes take part in are The Hall Cooper Games in King’s Hospital, The Tailteann Games and the Multievents.

Training for Track and Field tales place on scheduled days during the week, before school, after school, lunch times and at weekends. All pupils are encouraged to attend.  You can develop a talent you already have or discover a new one!
