The Senior Spanish debate team kicked off their quest for success with a wonderful performance against Mount Anville on the first night of the debating tournament this year.

They proposed the motion ‘Sports people are no longer good role models’.

Captained this year by Conrad Oppermann, the team also including John Kirwan, Cian Scott and Jack Crumlish, debated with passion and really showed off their wonderful linguistic ability.

Unfortunately they were pipped on the night but John Kirwan (Poetry Aylmer) was awarded best speaker.

They will continue their fight on October 18th against Loretto on the Green.

European Day of Languages was celebrated on September 26th in Belvedere College with a variety of activities.

The REF was transformed into a ‘Kantine’ for lunch time with ‘Bratwurst’ as the special of the day.

The yard became ‘la zona de música internacional’ with songs from artists such as Stromae, Enrique Iglesias, Sido, and of course a rendition of the very well-known Macarena.

EDL quizzes were done throughout language classes with ‘beaucoup de prix pour tout le monde’.

And finally a huge well done to Cristian Mocanu from Rudiments Aylmer for his wonderful poster that he designed for EDL 2017

Poetry students from all three Spanish classes enjoyed sampling some fabulous tapas in Salamanca restaurant today.
The boys were able to put their Spanish to use interacting with native speakers.

Un muy buen día para todos
