Our desire is that students at the end of Transition Year would have grown in greater maturity and confidence, as well as a greater appreciation of themselves, others and the world in which they live.
The programme introduces pupils to new subject areas, such as the Work Experience and Community Care placements and on Tuesday afternoons provides opportunities to acquire new skills by participation in one or two of the following: - the Young Entrepreneurs’ Scheme; Chess; Cookery; Lutherie (guitar making); Bridge; Robotics; Chinese Language and Culture; Log-On and Learn (teaching computer skills); Youth Leader Course (in association with the Belvedere Youth Club) and Science Buzz (a science-based discovery activity). On Thursday afternoons, students choose one or two of the following activities: - Film Appreciation; Silver Jewellery; Photography; Martial Arts; FAI Coaching Course; Scuba Diving; Communication Skills; Music Workshop; Snorkelling; Kayaking and Climbing (this list is reviewed annually). |
