Ground Zero 360 Competition Info

Ground Zero 360 exhibition was created by Dublin artist, Nicola McClean and retired member of the NYPD Paul McCormack. The exhibition aims to honour the sacrifice of the victims and their families of the 9/11 terror attacks. At the time of the terror attacks Nicola was a photographer working in New York and Paul was a commanding officer of the NYPD.

The exhibition was first displayed, for the tenth anniversary, at the world-renowned Field Museum in Chicago and has since continued to travel to museums around the world.

Artworks by well known artists such as Nicola McClean and Jim Fitzpatrick are displayed alongside personal items belonging to those who died in the attacks and photographic images of Ground Zero.

To commemorate the twentieth anniversary of 9/11 the Ground Zero 360 exhibition will travel to Dallas, Texas where work by over fifty international artists will be displayed in this special event. Nicola and Paul, who’s sons are students here at Belvedere, have approached the College and invited our students to create artworks in commemoration of the anniversary. This is a huge opportunity for our students as one piece of work will be chosen to travel to Texas alongside the work of the other artists and will be part of the exhibition.

So, we are absolutely delighted to announce the launch of our Ground Zero 360 Art Competition. It is open to all students of the College and we invite them to make an artwork in a medium of their choice that uses the 9/11 attacks as a stimulus for their work. The Art Department will be available to guide and support students throughout the process and will hold an information meeting via Teams when we return after the midterm break. A resource pack will also be available when we return to school.
